Don't Stop Me Now (Queen)

"Don't Stop Me Now" (sample ) is a 1979 hit single by Queen, from their 1978 album Jazz. Lyrics and music were written by Freddie Mercury. It was recorded in August/September 1978 in Nice, France.

Musically, the song is based around Mercury's piano playing, with John Deacon and Roger Taylor providing a bass guitar and drums backing track. On the studio version, Brian May's only guitar playing is in his guitar solo, but on live versions performed on the band's 1978 and 1979 tours, May would also play rhythm guitar throughout the rest of the song to add a rockier feeling to it. The song also provides an example of Queen's trademark style of multitrack harmony vocals for the chorus lines. Several recordings were laid over each other to achieve the final sound.

The lyrics have cosmic imagery describing feelings of power and exhilaration, for example "I'm gonna go, go, go there's no stopping me / I'm burning through the sky yeah 200 degrees…".

The single reached #9 in the UK charts but only #86 in the US.

It is famous for being a song Brian May did not like, and a jingle for Trafford Centre.

Despite the fact that the studio version is one of Queen's most popular songs, it only lasted from 1978-1979 live, with the last performance in the Crazy Tour.

Let's sing the song now :

Tonight Im gonna have myself a real good time
I feel alive and the world turning inside out yeah!
And floating around in ecstasy
So dont stop me now dont stop me
cause Im having a good time having a good time

Im a shooting star leaping through the sky
Like a tiger defying the laws of gravity
Im a racing car passing by like lady godiva
Im gonna go go go
Theres no stopping me

Im burning through the sky yeah!
Two hundred degrees
Thats why they call me mister fahrenheit
Im travling at the speed of light
I wanna make a supersonic man out of you

Dont stop me now Im having such a good time
Im having a ball dont stop me now
If you wanna have a good time just give me a call
Dont stop me now (cause Im havin a good time)
Dont stop me now (yes Im havin a good time)
I dont want to stop at all

Im a rocket ship on my way to mars
On a collision course
I am a satellite Im out of control
I am a sex machine ready to reload
Like an atom bomb about to
Oh oh oh oh oh explode

Im burning through the sky yeah!
Two hundred degrees
Thats why they call me mister fahrenheit
Im travling at the speed of light
I wanna make a supersonic woman of you

Dont stop me dont stop me
Dont stop me hey hey hey!
Dont stop me dont stop me ooh ooh ooh (I like it)
Dont stop me dont stop me
Have a good time good time
Dont stop me dont stop me ah

Im burning through the sky yeah!
Two hundred degrees
Thats why they call me mister fahrenheit
Im travling at the speed of light
I wanna make a supersonic man out of you

Dont stop me now Im having such a good time
Im having a ball dont stop me now
If you wanna have a good time just give me a call
Dont stop me now (cause Im havin a good time)
Dont stop me now (yes Im havin a good time)
I dont want to stop at all

I'm Too Sexy (Right Said Fred)

I'm Too Sexy" is sung from the point of view of a self-satisfied fashion model. The song's lyrics express confidence that his personal level of sexiness makes him too sexy for numerous things, most notably his shirt. The song's instrumental break is based on the guitar riff in the Jimi Hendrix song "Third Stone from the Sun."
A new version of the song called "I'm Too Sexy 2007", produced by the Tastemakers, was released in April 2007. Besides being an updated production it differs from the original version by no longer using the Third Stone From The Sun in its instrumental break. A new video was released as well although there is also a version where the original one from 1992 is used with the updated song.
The re-release of the song was prompted by a "Cleaner Close" advertising campaign for Daz detergent. This featured both Fairbrass brothers and included a self-parody of the song called "I'm too sexy for my whites". For this occasion they renamed the band "White said Fred".
The original song itself was rated No.49 on "Run for Your Life! It's the 50 Worst Songs Ever!"[by Blender.
The band is considered a one hit wonder in the United States, its only other charting U.S. single languishing at #76. However, "I'm Too Sexy" was just the act's first of several hits on the British charts, including the No. 1 single "Deeply Dippy."

Spandau Ballet (TRUE)

"True" was the third studio album by British band Spandau Ballet. It was released in March 1983, and was heavily influenced by jazz, soul, and R&B. It reached #1 on the UK charts, the top twenty in the United States, and charted in numerous countries around the world. The title track spent four weeks at #1 on the UK singles charts, and was a top five single in America. In 1991 it was sampled by the spiritual hip-hop act PM Dawn on their single "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss".

Other singles from the album included "Gold" (a #2 UK hit and a Top 30 hit in the U.S.), "Lifeline", "Communication" and "Pleasure". Later album releases by the band never equalled the success of True, and they broke up six years later.

Chicago (If You Leave Me Now)

"If You Leave Me Now" is the title of a popular hit ballad by the American rock group Chicago, from their album Chicago X. It was written and sung by bass guitar player Peter Cetera and released as a single in July 1976.

It is also the title of a compilation album released by Columbia Records (Columbia 38590) in 1983.

The single topped the US charts on October 23, 1976 and stayed there for two weeks, making it the first number one hit for the group. It also reached the number one spot in the UK, maintaining the position for three weeks. It was popular in multiple radio formats, and at one point during its peak listeners could hear it being played simultaneously on four different New York City radio stations.

"If You Leave Me Now" was also Chicago's biggest hit worldwide after topping the charts in other countries such as Britain and Australia. It went on to win Grammy Awards for Best Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s) and Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group or Chorus.

TOTO (I Will Remember)

In 1995, Toto recorded Tambu, their first album with Simon Phillips, which saw the band back with CBS, which was now Sony. A departure from Toto's polished, almost over-produced sound of the late 1970s and 1980s, Tambu was a very organic release and featured the single "I Will Remember" which received moderate radio play. Other singles released were "Drag Him To The Roof" and "The Turning Point". Tambu also featured John James and Jenny Douglas-McRae as session singers on some of the tracks. Jenny also sang lead on the album's bonus track "Blackeye" and also in a duet with Steve Lukather on "Baby He's Your Man". The album did not sell well in the United States(and in fact was not even released there until almost a year after it came out overseas) and the planned second single "Baby He's Your Man" ended up being cancelled.[26] Unlike the domestic disappointment, however, Tambu sold 600,000 copies worldwide.

The "Tambu Tour" proved to be another success, although there were no North American dates. Simon Phillips suffered from a back problem so Gregg Bissonette had to fill in for him during the first leg of the tour in late 1995. The tour concluded in 1996. The rest of the tour personnel remained the same, with the exception of Donna McDaniel who left in 1994 shortly after the "Night of the Proms" performances (which Jenny had missed since she was out touring with Joe Cocker). The song "Hold The Line" was now sung as a duet between Jenny and John.[27] Both Jenny and John were dropped from the band at the conclusion of the 1997 tour.

Tommy Page (I'll be your everything

"I'll Be Your Everything" is a song by pop singer Tommy Page. It was written by New Kids on the Block members Jordan Knight and Danny Wood. It peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on April 14, 1990.

White Lion (When The Children Cry)

"When the Children Cry" is a power ballad, performed by the rock group White Lion on their 1987 album Pride. The single peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, #53 in Canada, and #88 in the UK in early 1989.

In early 2003, just before the beginning of the Iraq War, it was re-released as a cover by Christian indie rock group Seventh Day Slumber. In 2007, T Beats UK produced a hip hop remix of the song using a sample from the first verse.

Wilson Philips (Hold On)

"Hold On" became Wilson Phillips' first number one single, reaching the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100 on June 9, 1990. The song also spent a week atop the adult contemporary chart that same year. In addition, "Hold On" peaked at number 6 on the UK Singles Chart.

At the Grammy Awards of 1991, the song received a nomination for Song of the Year, losing to "From a Distance" by Julie Gold and performed by Bette Midler

Martika (Love Thy Will Be Done)

"Love... Thy Will Be Done" was the first single released from Martika's second album, Martika's Kitchen, the single, written and produced by Prince, reached the top ten of the pop charts in the US, UK, France and Australia.

Stevie Wonder (I just called to say I love you)

"I Just Called to Say I Love You" is a song written, produced, and performed by Stevie Wonder as part of the soundtrack to the 1984 film The Woman in Red. The midtempo ballad expresses how simply calling someone to tell them you love them can make even the most unremarkable day of your life magical. It is one of Wonder's most simplistic, jingly and sentimental songs, and, with its quintessentially mid-80s synthesizers and drum machines, is a far cry from his more organic and experimental 1970s material. For those reasons it was savaged by critics upon its release. However, the public were seduced by its simple charms, making it one of Wonder's most successful singles to date.

The song was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks from October 13, 1984 and also became Wonder's first solo UK number-one hit, staying at the top for six weeks. It also became his tenth number-one on the R&B chart and his fourth number-one on the adult contemporary chart. In addition, the song won both a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for Best Original Song.

There is a dispute between Wonder and his former writing partner Lee Garrett over authorship rights. Garrett claims to have written the song years prior to its 1984 release.

Genesis (Mama)

"Mama" was the first single from Genesis' 1983 self-titled album (often referred to as the "shapes album" or simply "Mama", after the first track). Instantly recognizable from its harsh drum machine introduction, which leads into minimalist synthesizer lines in minor keys and finally Phil Collins' reverb-laden voice, "Mama" serves notice that the album which follows will be considerably darker than previous efforts. It remains the band's biggest commercial success in the UK, reaching #4 on the UK Singles Chart, but was less popular in the US, only reaching #73 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The track also has a powerful final verse punctuated with a live drum kit (modified by effects), comparable to Collins' earlier solo recording "In the Air Tonight".

The song has resurfaced in 2007 as part of the Turn It On Again tour, albeit transposed down a key to account for the deepening of Phil Collins's voice over the years.

The B-side of the single featured an extended version of It's Gonna Get Better.

Tracie Spencer (This House)

"This House" is the second single from Tracie Spencer's second album, Make the Difference. The single was released on November 7th, 1990. It was written by Matt Sherrod, Paul Sherrod and Sir Spence. Its theme touches upon the issue of poverty and giving to one another. After this single was released, the third single from Make the Difference, This Time Make It Funky, was released on May 1st, 1991.

Wanna know the lyrics and shake with the video sing? See this...

Where do we go from here?
What must we do to make that change?
It's time to understand, understand one another

In a world so cold a place of disbelief
Where will the people go without enough to eat
Let's not give up hope
We have to find a way
Search within our soul to make a better day

Chorus:
This house is our house
Let's do it for the people
This house is their house
Let's give it back to the people
The people of the world today

I see hurt in their eyes
I hear the sounds of voices cry
It's time to open our eyes
Time to help one another

In a world so cold a place of disbelief
Where can the people go to find a place to sleep
Let's not give up hope we have to find a way
Search within our soul to make a better day

Chorus

Bridge:
You-Me-We can make the difference
And you know no one, no one likes to be alone
We got to face it heart to heart
We have to make a brand new start
We got to change the tears to smiles
We have to go the exta mile

(you-me) It's time we face reality
(We can make the difference)
Give them hope and set them free
I think it's time we say goodbye
To all the homeless people's cry

Rap:
We've got to take the time to search the mind to find

This house, our house
(It's all in the hands of love)
(I said it's all in the hands of love)

Chorus

Calloway ( I wanna be Rich)

Cabell "Cab" Calloway III (December 25, 1907November 18, 1994) was a famous American jazz singer and bandleader.

Calloway was a master of energetic scat singing and led one of the United States' most popular African American big bands from the start of the 1930s through the late 1940s. Calloway's Orchestra featured performers that included trumpeters Dizzy Gillespie and Adolphus "Doc" Cheatham, saxophonists Ben Webster and Leon "Chu" Berry, New Orleans guitar ace Danny Barker, and bassist Milt Hinton. Calloway continued to perform until his death in 1994 at the age of 86.

Elton John (Sacrifice)

"Sacrifice" is a ballad performed by musician Elton John. The lyrics are by Bernie Taupin and music by Elton John. The song appears on the 1989 album Sleeping with the Past. It was first released in October of 1989, and was the second single from the album.

The song was subsequently re-released as a single in 1990 and became John's first independent number one single along with "Healing Hands" on the UK Singles Chart, remaining on the top spot for six weeks, as it became his first hits of the 1990s. With this re-release, Elton John got also his first number one in France and stayed on the chart for 26 weeks.

See this lyrics.....

It's a human sign

When things go wrong
When the scent of her lingers
And temptation's strong

Into the boundary
Of each married man
Sweet deceit comes calling
And negativity lands

Cold cold heart
Hard done by you
Some things look better baby
Just passing through

And it's no sacrifice
Just a simple word
It's two hearts living
In two separate worlds
But it's no sacrifice
No sacrifice
It's no sacrifice at all

Mutual misunderstanding
After the fact
Sensitivity builds a prison
In the final act

Culture Club (Karma Chameleon)

"Karma Chameleon" is a song from British band Culture Club. The song spent three weeks at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 1984 (see 1984 in music), becoming the group's biggest hit and only U.S. number one. The song hit number one in sixteen countries worldwide. In their home country, the single became Culture Club's second song to top the UK singles chart, staying there for six weeks in September and October 1983 and becoming the biggest selling single of 1983. The single came from their 1983 Colour by Numbers album. It was ranked #83 in the best selling singles of all time [1] and was given a Q Classic Song Award at the Q Awards in 2006.

The song was originally to be called "Cameo Chameleon". The band were recorded in interviews in late 1983 stating this was to be the title of their next single.[citation needed] The B-side of Karma Chameleon is "That's the Way (I'm Only Trying to Help You)" (in an alternate and shorter version). In an interview Boy George explained "The song is about the terrible fear of alienation that people have, the fear of standing up for one thing. It's about trying to suck up to everybody. Basically, if you aren't true, if you don't act like you feel, then you get Karma-justice, that's nature's way of paying you back."

The prominent harmonica part was played by Judd Lander, who had been a member of Merseybeat group The Hideaways in the 1960s. He had also played the harmonica part on Church of the Poison Mind.[2]

Rick Price (Heaven Knows)

In March 1992 the second single "Heaven Knows was released in Australia. It was another top 5 hit going platinum and marking Price as a singer with a truly remarkable voice. The song would go on to launch his international career but for the time being Australia was quite intent on enjoying the music. In May Price was asked to join the "Wizard of Oz" show-case in Los Angeles where he performed alongside good pal Tina Arena amongst many other of the country's leading artists. By June Australia had clearly fallen for the singer's brilliantly-crafted music. His debut album "Heaven Knows" entered the charts at number 3 and stayed in the top 40 for the remainder of the year.

In August 1992 Heaven Knows was released in Germany, Italy, Norway, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Sweden, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Greece, Holland, Israel, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, Portugal and Finland; in most of these countries the album charted. In September he toured Australia with his band giving people the opportunity to discover his abilities as a live performer. The tour was a success with comments like "His voice was clear and as strong as on the album - in fact the sound was near perfect" - West Australian and "Rick's performance showed what a talented performer he is and that his name will be around for a long time". - Beat

Following the tour was a month long promotional trip to Europe and the UK which involved over 100 interviews and 20 TV appearances, not bad for a boy from the country. In October he was invited back to Europe for further TV appearances and then a 3 week promotional trip to South East Asia.

In November 1992 Price returned to Australia where he won the prestigious Song of the Year Award for "Heaven Knows" at the APRA (Australian Performing Rights Association) Awards. This award recognised Rick's songwriting abilities.

In December 1992 Price was invited to Germany to perform on their biggest variety show there. He then made a 36 hour stopover in Manila where he managed to squeeze in six TV appearances, two radio interviews and a handful of press as well.

"Heaven Knows" held the top spot in Malaysia for four consecutive weeks while "Not A Day Goes By" sat just behind it in the Top 5. In The Philippines, "Heaven Knows" sat at number 1 for all of November and December. During this time the album sold over 250,000 units alone in South-East Asia. "It was an exhausting experience" says Price, "but it was stimulating at the same time. It was all new to me, going to places I'd never been and doing stuff I'd never done, so I certainly didn't get tired of it. I particularly enjoyed going into radio stations around the world and just picking up my guitar and singing for them. I also played at a lot of press conferences in Asia. When you do these things on your own they can be very intimidating; it sounds corny, but it throws you back on your skills as an entertainer. I learnt a lot from it."[citation needed]

Billy Ocean - Get Out of My Dreams Get Into My Car

"Get Outta My Dreams, Get into My Car" is a number one single by singer Billy Ocean. Part of its popularity lay in its cutting-edge (for the time) video, which featured cartoon mixed with live-action sequences. The song went to #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and #3 on the UK Singles Chart. The title was inspired by a line in the song "You're Sixteen", "you stepped out of my dreams, and into my car".

Richie Sambora (The Answer)

Richard "Richie" Steven Sambora (born on July 11th, 1959), is an American rock guitarist, producer, musician, singer and songwriter who is the lead guitarist of the rock band Bon Jovi. Along with frontman Jon Bon Jovi, he forms the primary songwriting unit of the band. He is also a solo artist, having released two solo albums; Stranger in This Town in 1991, and Undiscovered Soul in 1998.

Born to a Polish father, Adam C. Sambora, d.2007 (family originally from Kraków, Poland as stated by Sambora), and an Italian mother, Joan Sienila. Sambora grew up in Woodbridge Township, New Jersey.[1] He attended Woodbridge High School there. He began playing the guitar at the age of 14 following the death of guitar legend Jimi Hendrix in 1970. From his early days Sambora was strongly influenced by blues and 60s rock 'n' roll. His most important influences were Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Winter and Jimmy Page and Joe Perry. He was also influenced by Spanish classical music and began a life long love of the Spanish guitar[citation needed].

Sambora played guitar for Joe Cocker and auditioned for Kiss.[2] Bon Jovi added Sambora to replace original lead guitarist Dave Sabo.[2]

Sambora has occasionally taken over as lead vocalist on some Bon Jovi songs, most notably "I'll Be There for You" and "These Days" when played live on the Bounce, Have a Nice Day and the current Lost Highway tour. He has also performed "Stranger In This Town" (from the album of the same title) at various Bon Jovi concerts and Ballad of Youth (most notably on Keep the Faith and These Days tours)and sometimes on the current Lost Highway tour. One of the live performances of "Stranger In This Town", recorded during the Keep the Faith tour, was released on Bon Jovi's CD single "Dry County" in 1994.

99Luft Baloon - Nena

"99 Luftballons" is a Cold War-era protest song by the German singer Nena. Originally sung in German, it was later re-recorded in English as "99 Red Balloons".

"99 Luftballons" reached #1 in West Germany in 1983. In 1984, the original German version also peaked at #2 on the American Billboard Hot 100 chart and the English-language version topped the UK Singles Chart. The German version topped the Australian charts for five weeks and the New Zealand charts for one week.

When it made the charts in the United States, most US radio DJs incorrectly assumed that "99 Luftballons" was translated in English as "99 Red Balloons" or pronounced the number 99 in English and said "Ninety-nine Luftballoons." The actual pronunciation of "99 Luftballons" is "Neunundneunzig Luftballons."

The translation of the title is sometimes given as "Ninety-Nine Air Balloons". However "Ninety-Nine Balloons" is correct [1][2]. A Luftballon is a colorful toy balloon, rather than a balloon for transport or research. The name is derived from Luft, German for air, but the meaning of Luft does not qualify the type of balloon. The title "99 RED Balloons" scans correctly with the syllables falling in the right places within the rhythm of the first lines of lyrics, with "red" replacing "Luft".

Van Hallen (Jump)

Edward Lodewijk "Eddie" Van Halen (born January 26, 1955), is a Dutch-American guitarist, keyboardist, songwriter and producer most famous for being the lead guitarist and co-founder of the rock band Van Halen.

Another Van Halen formation

Main article: Van HalenVan Halen, originally called "Mammoth", was formed in 1972 in Pasadena, California, United States. The band consisted of Eddie Van Halen on guitar and vocals, his brother, Alex on drums, and bassist Mark Stone. They had no P.A. system of their own, so they rented one from David Lee Roth[2] (who had auditioned for the band, but failed) - a service for which he charged $10 a night. Eddie quickly became frustrated singing lead vocals,[2] and decided they could save money by letting Roth into the band.[2] Soon, Michael Anthony replaced Mark Stone on bass. They opted to change the name of the band, reportedly due to another band used the same name - Roth is normally attributed with suggesting the name 'Van Halen'.
In 1977 Gene Simmons saw one of Van Halen's shows at Gazzari's in Hollywood, and subsequently financed their first demo tape, flying the band to Electric Lady Studios in New York to record "House of Pain" and "Runnin' With the Devil". Eddie disliked his playing on the demo, because he wasn't using his own equipment, and had to overdub guitar parts (which he had never done before.)[2]
In 1977, Van Halen was offered a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records. Later that year, they recorded their first album, "Van Halen", which was released on February 10, 1978. Eddie claims that their first single, "You Really Got Me", a cover of the original Kinks song, was not his first choice. The band was forced to release the song before other bands (notably L.A. rival "Angel") who heard Van Halen's rendition and were trying to beat them to the punch.

Peter Cetera (You're The Inspiration)

Peter Paul Cetera (born September 13, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.) is an American singer, songwriter, bass guitar player and producer best known for being an original member of the rock band Chicago, before launching a successful solo career.

You're the Inspiration: A Collection (1997) is largely a compilation of music artist Peter Cetera's duets, though it does feature remakes of the songs "You're the Inspiration," "If You Leave Me Now," and "Baby What a Big Surprise" which he had previously written and recorded with the group Chicago. The songs "Do You Love Me That Much" and "She Doesn't Need Me Anymore" are notable as they are the only new songs written for this album.
